The current stats servers, standard and deviation, are a pair of machines with the second acting a warm standby failover. The second machine also serves as a staging/development server. Both machines have the same identical configuration:
- HP ProLiant DL140 G2 server, 1U rack mount
- Dual processor, Intel Xeon CPU 3.40GHz with HyperThreading (total 4 logical processors)
- 8.0 GB RAM (4 of 8 sockets filled)
- 2TB usable, mirrored with ZFS (2 x 2TB SATA disks)
- Operating system is FreeBSD 8.1 for AMD64
- Web server is Apache and PHP
- Database is PostgreSQL 9.0.1
- Donated to distributed.net 2010-09, Put into service 2010-11-26.

The previous stats server, fritz (statsbox-iv), had this configuration:
- Dual-Processor AMD Opteron 244 1.8GHz
- Rack Mount 3U Chassis (9 x SATA drive bays)
- Tyan Thunder K8S Pro (S2882) motherboard
- 4.0GB RAM
- 3Ware 9550SX-8LP SATA RAID Controller
- 600GB RAID 10 (6 x 200GB disks)
- 300GB RAID 1 (2 x 300GB disks)
- Operating system is FreeBSD 6.x for AMD64
- Web server is Apache and PHP
- Database back-end is PostgreSQL 8.1
- Purchased 2004-04, Put into service 2004-04, Taken out of service 2010-11-26. (In service 6.5 years)

- Rack Mount 7U Chassis, huge! (8 hotswap drive bays)

- Operating system is FreeBSD 4.x
- Web server is Apache and PHP
- Database back-end is PostgreSQL, transitioned from Sybase ASE for Linux (running in Linux binary emulation mode under FreeBSD)

Prior to that, the stats server tally (statsbox-ii), looked something like this:
- Dual-Processor Pentium III-500 (Asus P2B-DS motherboard)
- 512Mb of RAM (two of four DIMM sockets filled)
- 13Gb of u2w-scsi hard drive (a nine and a four)
- Operating system is Linux 2.2 kernel
- Web server is Apache and PHP.
- Database back-end is Sybase ASE for Linux
- Build began 1999-01, Put into service 1999-02, Taken out of service 2001-12. (In service 2.8 years)
And prior to that, statsbox-i:
- Pentium 166 overclocked to 200MHz

- enough IDE drives to be a major bottleneck.
